triple j are currently in the midst of celebrating Ausmusic Month, which last week gave us a sterling Kylie Minogue Like A Version cover courtesy of Tame Impala, who lent their psych rock stylings to the pop princess’ underrated 1994 hit ‘Confide In Me’.

This week, Brisbane indie rockers The Jungle Giants have taken on a modern Australian classic, performing a high-energy rendition of Cut Copy’s ‘Lights & Music’ from their critically acclaimed 2008 album, In Ghost Colours.

The Jungle Giants have taken Cut Copy’s moody, atmospheric original and turned it into a bouncy, upbeat affair primed for the dance floor. And is it just us or does the arrangement sound a lot like LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Daft Punk Is Playing at My House‘?

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, we just can’t get over the level of talent that’s been on display during this year’s Like A Version series, especially from homegrown bands and artists like Dorsal Fins, with their cover of Kate Ceberano’s ‘Pash’ and Art Vs Science’s recent rework of the Metallica classic ‘Enter Sandman’.

We’ve also seen some covers bound for this year’s Hottest 100, an alt-rock mash-up that blew us away, some ambitious takes on mega-tunes by the likes of FKA twigs, Jamie xx, and Fatboy Slim, as well as a raw take on a homegrown anthem.
