The Christmas season is set to begin early this year, with Kate Miller-Heidke and The Beards teaming up to deliver a new, tongue-in-cheek Christmas classic titled ‘I’m Growing A Beard Downstairs For Christmas’.

Miller-Heidke has long been one of Australia’s most acclaimed singing and songwriting talents and The Beards have been consistently hailed as the best facial hair-themed comedy rock band in the entire country.

Together, the two have made bearded, innuendo-laden magic, addressing the twin issues of “manscaping and clamscaping” with a smile and promoting traditional Christmas values like togetherness and not shaving your pubic areas.

“The Beards opened for me on tour a couple of years ago, and some of their fans heckled me for not having a beard. This song is my revenge on them,” said Miller-Heidke. “Also, it taps into my sick love of Christmas songs.”

“It’s one of the poppiest, most upbeat songs I’ve ever written and it’s my dream that it gets played at Westfield during extended Christmas shopping hours. Also, it’s for charity.” Charity? What? Oh yeah.

All of the proceeds from the single will be going to Bowel Cancer Australia to help them with their annual fundraising effort, Decembeard. The track is available through iTunes and other outlets from Friday, 27th November.

Miller-Heidke recently announced an extensive string of tour dates to celebrate all of the projects she’s got on the go, which also includes the opening of her very own opera, The Rabbits. Check out the dates and details below.
