The first interview conducted with Eagles Of Death Metal since their Paris performance was besieged by terrorists leaving 89 people dead, has been released online.

Speaking to Vice‘s Shane Smith, EODM co-founder Jesse Hughes, guitarist Eden Galindo, bassist Matt McJunkins, drummer Julian Dorio, sound engineer Shawn London, and later co-founder Josh Homme, recount the incident in harrowing detail.

Each discusses their recollection of the night, including Hughes’ encounter with one of the shooters whilst searching for his girlfriend, while Homme, who was not on tour with the band at the time, recounts his initial reaction to the news.

In a second interview with Hughes and Homme, the two touch on their efforts to help the victims of the attacks. “We represent the fans that did not make it, the people who did not make it, whose stories may never be told,” says Homme.

Meanwhile, Hughes reveals that the band will continue to exist and hopes to be the first band to play the Bataclan when it reopens: “I cannot wait to get back to Paris… Our friends went there to see rock ‘n’ roll and died, I’m going to go back there and live.”

Homme adds that the band plans on completing their European tour, saying, “We don’t really have a choice. Not only for ourselves and our fans, not only for Nick Alexander, not only because this is our way of life… it’s the human condition.”

The band have also launched a fundraising campaign to help victims of the attacks, encouraging fellow bands to cover their song ‘I Love You All The Time’. All of the publishing earnings will then be donated. Homme’s own Sweet Stuff Foundation are also taking donations to help victims.
