Set to run at a yet to be disclosed warehouse located in North Melbourne today Friday the 27th, the HEAVY warehouse party Vol. 1 is exactly that; HEAVY.

Featuring one of the best warehouse party line ups we’ve seen in yonks, including Berlin based Fantastic Man, one of the most forward-thinking and prolific projects to come out of Australia in recent years, new age dance maestro Andras Fox, Newcastle’s ethereal Mall Grab, and local legend Disrute.

To celebrate the event, the crew behind HEAVY have decided to put together a mixtape on some of the music they’re loving right now. Check it out below and visit the Facebook event page for more info.

A VISION OF PANORAMA – ‘TWO BIRDS’

Russia’s mysterious beach groove connoisseur released a new 5 track not too long ago. The release was awash with tropic tones, lilting melodies and coastal flavours to sail along to. This tune has been on repeat back at HEAVY HQ for some weeks now.

ANDRAS & OSCAR – ‘(I KNOW) WHAT YOU WANT’

Melbourne’s most seductive double-team returned to the scene together this year with a beautiful mini release via Dopeness Galore. I Know what you want boasts everything we love about this duo; from Andras’ signature vintage grooves to Oscar’s delicate and soulful vocals.. its all there.

MALL GRAB – ‘CAN’T (GET YOU OUT OF MY MIND)’

Head in the burbs dance culminations from Newcastle. Mall Grab is making waves in both the techno world and the World Wide Web with his unique vintage house sounds and hella stoned aesthetic. This one is a flip of an Alicia Keys classic that is due to be released on vinyl early next year.

STEPH– ‘ALONE’

Another Newcastle based producer. (There’s something in the water). Steph is the alter ego of acclaimed producer Stephane 1993. Steph boasts an impressive and eclectic production range and this track is a perfect example of that. “Alone embodies the thrill of a driving at top speed on a dual carriageway, wide open roads and sweet solidarity.” This is one of the many releases that Steph has been cooking up in recent months.

JUNKTION – ‘I’M WISHIN’’

Dutch techno/deep house producer Junktion’s Hot and Bothered release was a bit of a throw back to early disco. A little funkier and more organic than his previous releases; this ones the perfect summer jam.

RARR – ‘LEAVE ME IN MY BROKEN DREAMS’

Belgium based producer Raar is a relatively unknown entity. We stumbled across this one on the OOUKFunkyOO YouTube channel. Raar produces his own brand of nostalgic lo-fi techno. Raw, minimal, uncut. This one is due out on cassette later in the year.

METHYL ETHEL – ‘TWILIGHT DRIVING’

Perth psych rockers Methyl Ethel burst onto the scene this year with their debut album ‘Oh Inhumane Spectacle’. Twilight Driving probably has the catchiest chorus of the year and is topped off by a sexy, souring reverb-drenched sax solo. Its liked Careless Whisper and Baker Street banged and had a kid, then that kid banged the spawn of Tame Impala and Mac Demarco and had a kid. That kid is called Methyl Ethel. Look out for these guys.
