Some of our favourite Brissy noise punks The Keepaways are today unleashing their self-titled EP, a tidy little follow up to their debut album KA QLD which was released very early this year.

The EP is broken up into five ‘Portals’ the killer EP  is a collection of tracks written and produced by Jinki using drum tracks recorded in late 2014. The Keepaways recorded a bunch of drum and guitar tracks that were all written and recorded on the spot in their jam room, in order for Jinki to work on them while Dogbauu (drummer) travelled overseas. What was recorded would later become The Keepaways self titled EP.

Band member Jinki explained the creation behind the EP: “The making of this EP was an introverted and solitary experience. The songs feed off a lot of movies that I love, video games, extreme personalities/ emotions and worlds that I like to imagine could exist at point in the future. It’s more tripped out than our previous material but the song structures are simple.

I would like to think this EP is a stepping-stone or “portal” into our next album as we draw on more and more electronic synthesis to create sounds that are new and unique. This EP is as much an experiment in what I could do with a synth, as it was an escape from daily routine.”
