To say the upcoming Soundwave festival has been dealing with controversy would be an understatement.

Between mixed and vocal reactions to line up announcements, ongoing ticketing issues (as you can see on the event Facebook page) and the recent comments by festival headliner Bring Me The Horizon who stated that they’re not 100% confirmed for the appearance, it’s not surprising festival boss AJ Maddah is ready to give it a rest, having just confirmed on Twitter that it will not be returning for 2017.

In a response to a Soundwave punter who asked “what r the odds of there being SW17 or even SW16 2 go ahead. with no SW what am I supposed to look Fwd to :(” AJ responded that the heat the event organisers have received recently is just too much, explaining “It’s a lot of hard work, stress & risk in return for which we get hate & stupidity #OverIt

With Soundwave 2016  scheduled to kick off next month with the likes of Disturbed, The Prodigy, Deftones, and NOFX all heading down under for Australia’s premier hard rock and heavy metal this could be the last chance heavy music fans get to experience the festival juggernaut.
