It’s well and truly the season of lists – shopping lists, lists of who to send Christmas cards to, even Santa’s got a list and we have it on good authority that he’ll be checking it twice.

We’re certainly not immune here at Tone Deaf and have unveiled a couple of countdowns honouring the efforts of the best of the best when it comes to Australian music over the past 12 months.

Now, The Hype Machine, widely regarded as the blogosphere’s top aggregator, have unveiled their list of the most blogged-about musicians of the year – the ones bloggers just couldn’t shut up about.

What’s more, there happens to be three Aussies on the list this year (an increase on last year’s two), with one coming in the top five and another appearing in the list for the second year in a row.

The three artists in question are Tame Impala (#4), Chet Faker (#25), and Courtney Barnett (#42), though there certainly weren’t any points for figuring that out. These three have dominated Aussie music this year.

Last year saw Chet coming in at a very respectable 14th place, with homegrown electronic duo Flight Facilities just cracking the top 50. At this rate, Aussies should make up the entirety of the list by 2065.

Tame Impala received the highest number of blog mentions out of all the Aussies this year thanks to the release of their widely acclaimed, ARIA Award-winning third album, Currents.

Meanwhile, fellow ARIA Award winner Courtney Barnett took the whole world by storm thanks to the release of her debut, Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit.

As for Chet, he got plenty of love last year thanks to the release of his own debut, but still made waves in 2015 thanks to his collaboration with UK producer Marcus Marr.

You can check out Hype Machine’s top 10 down below. This year’s list was topped by Unknown Mortal Orchestra, followed by Oh Wonder, Toro Y Moi, Tame Impala, and Years and Years rounding out the top five.
