While you may not hold venue security workers in the highest esteem thanks to one or two less than pleasant run-ins with an overzealous bouncer, it’s best to look at them through the humanising lens of comic book super-villains.

They start off as perfectly reasonable, nice people just looking to do their jobs, before society twists and turns them into what you think of as the cliched, arrogant bouncer that gets a buzz out of treating people poorly.

If you don’t believe us, just watch this recently surfaced clip that comes courtesy of a bouncer in Ontario, Canada, who strapped a GoPro camera to his chest on New Year’s Eve. You’ll come away with a newfound sympathy for venue security staff.

The nine-minute clip was filmed during NYE last year but only recently uploaded and as you can expect, chronicles the poor bouncer’s interactions with a ceaseless stream of drunks who will do anything to get into the club.

If you’ve ever tried to bluff or simply nag your way into a venue, whether by claiming your sibling is still inside or you forgot to pick up your jacket from cloak room even though you’re wearing it, this is pretty much what you look like.

You’ve also got to hand it to this particular bouncer. There’s certainly some bad ones out there, but this guy manages to maintain his composure for the most part as he engages in inane arguments with inebriated punters all while braving the Canadian winter.
