Following on from the incredible efforts of Falls Festival to raise $120,000 for the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, the organisers of the Southbound Fire Relief Appeal have revealed their concert at Perth’s HBF Stadium raised over $150,000.

Almost 3,500 music fans gathered to enjoy performances from the likes of JumpClimb DJs, Koi Child, San Cisco, Oh Wonder, Birds of Tokyo, Django Django, Bloc Party and Disclosure, with all proceeds going to the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund.

In the wake of the cancellation of Southbound Festival, VenuesWest and Sunset Events quickly mobilised, putting together a concert featuring several eagerly anticipated Southbound headliners in less than 48 hours.

“We were utterly overwhelmed at the willingness of local businesses, suppliers, staff and our local and international artists who dropped everything to make this event happen last night,” said Southbound director David Chitty.

“The people of West Aus wasted no time throwing their support and money behind this event to help out our friends in the South West through this devastating time.”

“To put together a concert for 3,500 people in under two days is an amazing achievement. I commend everyone involved,” added VenuesWest Chairman Richard Muirhead, offering praise to all the stakeholders involved in the gig.

“Staff at VenuesWest were overwhelmed with offers of support from businesses across a range of industries, without their support this event would not have been so successful.”

Companies who offered their services included, AEG Ogden, Audio Technic, Coca Cola Amatil, Concert and Corporate Productions, Direct Brand Distributors, Go West Tours, HOBAN Recruitment, Lounge Backline, and Perth Ice Works.

Quayclean, Radlink, St John Ambulance, Sea Containers Perth, Spotless, Ticketmaster, and Ultimo Catering also lent a helping hand. Organisers have also advised fans to keep their eyes peeled as a bunch of signed merch will soon be up for silent auction to raise further funds.

As we recently reported, a number of Southbound ticket-holders have also offered to donate part or all of their ticket refund to those affected by the fires which have devastated the local community and led to the cancellation of the festival.

Ticket-holders will soon be able to do this via Moshtix. Information on full ticket refunds will be available by Wednesday, 13th January, which will include further information on how to donate through the Moshtix platform.
