Legion Festival founder and Devil You Know drummer John Sankey has announced that after “a number of discussions with industry partners, bands and the Legion Fan council”, he will announce several changes to the event tomorrow morning.

“The reason that we’ve approached everything the way we have, from the crowd funding, to the commitment to transparency, is because we want to make sure we create the best possible festival that will be around for a really long time”, said Sankey in a statement.

“We’ve come across a few hurdles in the last few weeks and want to make sure that we’re making the best decisions to ensure that we deliver on our promises.” Sankey says he is “confident” the changes will ensure the sustainability and longevity of Legion.

Just what those changes are remain to be seen and the fact that the festival, which prides itself on its transparency, is teasing upcoming announcement already has fans worried and slinging comparisons to AJ Maddah.

At the time of writing, Australia’s first crowdfunded heavy music festival has raised just $314,021 of its more than $3 million goal. With just seven days to go until deadline, fans will need to pledge more than $423,000 per day in order to hit target.

While it’s not clear just what changes Sankey is set to announce, organisers are going to have to pull something big out of their sleeves if they hope to see the event, which has raised less than 10 percent of its goal, go ahead.
