Menangle-bred rockers The Rubens are now officially a household name in Australia, having taken out the top spot of yesterday’s triple j Hottest 100, beating out the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Major Lazer, and Tame Impala.

triple j have now shared a clip of the exact moment the band realised they had topped the world’s biggest fan-voted music poll and it’s sort of like those videos of kids unwrapping a Furby on Christmas morning, only better.

“The bastards invited us in but wouldn’t tell us a thing. Thank-you triple j, thank-you everyone,” the band wrote on their official Facebook page, which is no doubt being flooded with new followers as we speak.

As you can see below, even The Rubens figured it was a foregone conclusion that Kendrick Lamar’s ‘King Kunta’ had topped the poll and when they hear it come in at number two, they proceed to lose their minds – glorious.
