Tributes have begun to flood in for Melbourne musician Karl Von-Bamberger, who was found dead on Monday afternoon. The 37-year-old musician had been missing since last Wednesday.

As The Age reports, a body believed to be Von-Bamberger’s was found at Merri Creek in North Fitzroy on Monday afternoon. “The death is not being treated as suspicious,” police said.

A report is being prepared for the coroner as friends and family pay tribute to the prolific Melbourne musician, who was a member of Eli & Bev, Horsemania, and many other projects.

“It’s been confirmed that beautiful Karl is no longer alive,” a friend wrote on Facebook. “R.I.P Karl. I always admired your creative & kind soul. I always felt we were on the same page when we spoke,” another wrote.

Lloyd Honeybrook, who helped organise an online campaign to find Von-Bamberger, thanked those who rallied to help. “I love you all, the response from the community has been fucking amazing,” he wrote.

“It would be absolutely awesome if you could inject some positivity into the world (whether you knew Karl or not) by telling your loved ones how much you appreciate them and/or doing something really lovely for yourself.”

When contacted by Fairfax Media on Monday, Von-Bamberger’s mother, Karen Buczynski-Lee, said she was holding out hope for her son, whom she called “a musician and a poet and a very good, very loyal friend”.

Ms Buczynski-Lee said she was touched by the “tremendous” efforts of her son’s friends, who had gone to great lengths to find him. “It’s a real reflection of his network of friends and how full the life of an artist in Melbourne is,” she said.
