Every year, at the height of summer, the hard working crew at PBS 106.7FM throw a week-long party to celebrate live music. It’s called ‘Drive Live’, it’s the loudest week of the year, it’s always a ton of fun and as usual they want all live music lovers to be a part of it.

Running from Monday February 1st to Friday the 5th from 5pm ‘till 7pm this is the ultimate opportunity to catch some of your favourite Melbourne artists performing live at PBS’ Collingwood studios and as usual the lineup speaks for itself.

Try Terrible Truths, hot off their raw and rollicking LP launch tour; Batpiss, always ready to tear the roof off of our house and the neighbours’, the captivating, intoxicating, and critically acclaimed Sui Zhen; dance floor darlings and brain re-arrangers,friendships; and one of Melbourne’s most revered exports, The Drones.

To celebrate Drive Live 2016, we asked Nick Brown of program The Breakfast Spread to curate a mixtape of his favourite acts playing this year, check out Nick’s story about getting into PBS and his killer picks below. For more info on Drive Live visit www.pbsfm.org.au.

“The first time I ever visited PBS was for Drive Live. It was like stepping off the street into a world of awesome music and people. People were hanging out, drinking beers and having a sick time. The Murlocs played and Ambrose’s mum was wandering around selling their CD to “cover the costs of raising him”. I was totally blown away and left really inspired. A month later I quit my job and started volunteering at the station. Four years later I’m presenting The Breakfast Spread and helping organise Drive Live. It’s funny how these things work out.”

TAIPAN TIGER GIRLS – ‘Motion’

(Playing Monday)
I got seriously obsessed with this band last year. Stunning, patient walls of noise underpinned by Mat Watson’s relentless drumming. One of Melbourne’s most captivating live acts. I expect people’s brains to start leaking out of their ears when these three fire up at Drive Live.

DEAF WISH – ‘Eyes Closed’

(Playing Tuesday)
There’s nothing comfortable about this band. The earsplitting noise and feedback doesn’t stand a chance of masking the hurt that lives beneath. Always on the brink of falling apart.

JESS RIBEIRO – ‘Hurry Back to Love’

(Playing Wednesday)
One of those rare songwriters that can conjure genuine danger at will. Sparse arrangements that brim with menace made Kill It Yourself a standout album last year. Hurry Back To Love is a stone cold classic – the recent Mikey Young remix takes it to a whole other planet.

BATPISS – ‘Loose Screws’

(Playing Thursday)
Rusted on heroes of 3066. Dirgy sludge punk that’s as meditative as it is vicious. Road-hardened from two whopping national tours last year. The video for Loose Screws did for Collingwood what Sea Change did for Barwon Heads.

LITTLE DESERT – ‘Self Sabotage’

(Playing Friday)
Organ-drenched goth rock that tears the doors off. Esther’s voice could fill 15 Olympic-sized swimming pools. The record is great but the live show is an entirely different beast. They’re tearing The Tote front bar a newie every Saturday in
