The results of the triple j Hottest 100 are finally in and now begins the long laborious process of dissecting the countdown and arguing about the implications it has on the current state of youth culture. It’s a lot of fun, actually.
No doubt one of the most common topics of discourse is the songs that should have been in the countdown but were left out for whatever reason. No matter how much you love a song, sometimes it just doesn’t make the Hottest 100 cut.
In the interest of giving these unfortunately omitted songs a little well-earned time in the sun, we’ve collected 12 of our favourites. Here’s hoping we get to see them in the upcoming Hottest 200 broadcast.
