You probably know Tom Gaynor best as Allday, the critically acclaimed young Australian rapper who recently announced a tour of universities around the country and made headlines after calling out much of the Australian hip-hop scene for being “trash”.

But before he was one of Australia’s top emcees, Gaynor was just a kid trying to make his name in the world of standup comedy. Really, he actually fared pretty well, too, coming in as a runner up in the 2011 Raw Comedy national final.

You can check out Allday’s Raw Comedy set below, which features some undeniably well-written material, though we might have to take some points off for his awkward rhythm and timing, which is ironic for a rapper (nerves, probably).

Allday’s two loves — rapping and comedy — even converged in the character MC Disturbance, a foul-mouthed rapper who hates his step-dad and who accrued a following in the local underground battle rap scene and performed at comedy clubs (see below).
