If you haven’t heard, Prince is touring Australia next week. Of course, chances are you have heard and you’re probably one of the many, many frustrated Ticketmaster and Ticketek customers who didn’t manage to get any tickets.
The pop icon announced the surprise tour last week, with tickets going on sale yesterday and selling out in a matter of 10 minutes. It’s now a matter of just how quickly those scalpers can flog their bounty to beleaguered punters.
As for those who were lucky enough to secure tickets, Prince has laid down a few ground rules for you to follow, lest you feel the wrath of the Purple One. Before you ask, no, he doesn’t want you to bring him pancakes.
“All Australian shows now officially sold out,” the man behind some of pop culture’s most treasured songs wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “Also no mobile phones at any shows, or press photographers or media review tickets.”
It’s a fairly reasonable request and one we’re pretty much on board for. After all, we’ve long argued that you should spend your time at a gig watching the performance and not checking your Instagram feed.

Notoriously interview-shy, Prince actually recently granted five questions to Sunday Telegraph journalist Kathy McCabe, responding to the journalist’s questions in fluent Prince-ish, e.g. ‘EYE’ instead of ‘I’.
“That’s a good ?estion,” Prince responded when asked about his intimate new show format. “EYE have only per4med two concerts completely alone onstage and have found the absolute silence a turn on. It 4ces U 2 listen with not only Ur ears but also the heart.”
