There's nothing nerdy about The Internet Music. Watch their smooth take on N*E*R*D's classic 'Tape You' for Like A Version.

Another year, another series of triple j Like A Version. Things have gotten off to an interesting start – we’ve seen a heart-wrenching David Bowie, an ambitious mash-up from this year’s Hottest 100 winners, and what was maybe the most un-triple j Like A Version ever.

Today’s Like A Version comes courtesy of Odd Future affiliates The Internet, who are currently in the country for St Jerome’s Laneway Festival and a series of headline shows, which have seen them garnering acclaim, including from Tone Deaf reviewer Hannah Joyner.

Between the festival dates, headline shows, and the flights and transit in between, you can forgive the band for not being morning people. That could be why they performed a particularly laid-back and chilled cover of N*E*R*D’s ‘Tape You’ from their 2001 debut album In Search of….

Whilst the original (and the rocked out version the band dropped on their re-recorded album a year later) was a fidgety, up-tempo number, The Internet slow things down considerably and turn it into a sleepy haze of keyboards, drums, and vocals.

To be perfectly frank, the whole thing was a bit of a let down, especially considering the hype currently surrounding the band and the level of energy they normally display on stage. This LAV just left us feeling a little deflated, but jet lag will do that to you.
