A serious beef has erupted in the Australian underground hip-hop scene, with Melbourne rapper Ivan Ooze taking to his official Facebook page to call out fellow emcee Baro after the latter made some unflattering comments about Ooze on his personal Facebook page.
Ooze is set to play the first of three shows with legendary hip-hop collective the Wu-Tang Clan at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena tonight, a fact that apparently peeved one of Baro’s mates, who asked the young rhyme-slinger, “Who’s mans put Pooze on the Wu-Tang tour?”
Baro responded by calling out Ooze on his personal Facebook page, writing, “Ni**a you are corny and you suck. I don’t see [sic] how many hits your Facebook page has. We live in a country where blackface is supposedly ok.”
Baro continued by comparing Ooze to “that girl from school who thought she could sing real well and everybody told her she has a beautiful voice but in reality everybody is LYING and I’m forced to sit through assembly and watch her flaunt the false ego she was given by her peers”.
“Except it’s bogans and 14-year-olds with very poor knowledge of rap and easy access to Facebook commenting on their ‘new favourite rappers’ very thought out inner iPhone camera or webcam fire introspective conscience rap verse that is gonna put them on the map,” Baro adds.
It wasn’t long before Ooze caught wind of Baro’s comments. “It’s funny how you can hardly say a bad word about someone, yet they can be so childish and sour towards you,” he wrote on his official Facebook page.
“Legit, the only reason I started doing this rap shit is to help my parents put food on the table and pay rent, but some people wouldn’t know nothing about that,” Ooze, who recently hit the studio with Wu-Tang member Ghostface Killah, wrote.
Ooze then made the beef very personal by sharing screenshots taken from Baro’s personal Facebook page and ending his missive by writing, “Sorry that you’re butt hurt Baro and your shows don’t sell, better luck next tour.”
Baro, who’s known for tracks like ‘See Less’ and ‘Travellin’ Through Time’, has previously made headlines after calling out his peers for dressing in racist blackface and more recently for instructing his fans not to vote for him in the triple j Hottest 100.
