The news broke this morning that Foo Fighters have embarked on an indefinite hiatus following a long stretch of touring and recording. The news came amid rumours the band was planning on breaking up and frontman Dave Grohl was embarking on a solo career.

A representative for the band quickly dismissed such claims as “utterly ridiculous“, but drummer Taylor Hawkins did confirm the band are on hiatus in a newly published interview with Artisan News first given back in January.

Grohl previously alluded to the band taking a break in a missive accompanying the band’s 2015 Saint Cecilia EP, writing, “Maybe these songs are the bread crumbs that will help us find our way back when it’s time.”

“We could use a nice wander through the woods right about now. Another empty journal, another tap on the shoulder … those things are never far behind. It’s what lies ahead in those woods that excites me now.”

After teasing fans on social media with a forthcoming “official band announcement“, the band have finally confirmed their hiatus with a hilarious new video in which they poke fun at the rumours of their break-up and of Grohl going solo.

The clip sees Grohl discussing a potential solo career with longtime Foos producer Buch Vig as the band attempt to recruit a new frontman, eventually settling on former boy band heartthrob Nick Lachey. Check it out below.
