Australian rock legend Ross Hannaford, best known as guitarist for iconic rockers Daddy Cool, has passed away at the age of 65. As Fairfax notes, Hannaford had been fighting a courageous battle against cancer.

Despite his fight against the disease, Hannaford continued to play, even releasing a solo album, titled Hanna, last year, and he was a staple on the local Melbourne music scene, known for his flamboyant dress style.

Hannaford formed Daddy Cool with singer Ross Wilson in 1970, going to become one of Australia’s biggest bands. In 1971, they released their debut album, Daddy Who?, which included now iconic songs like ‘Eagle Rock’ and ‘Come Back Again’.

The band was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2006, but Hannaford was known for being a man of the people, regularly performing for shoppers at South Melbourne market. Tributes have begun to pour in for the late guitarist on social media.
