Tinpan Orange are set to drop their highly anticipated fifth studio album, Love Is A Dog, on 8th April and they’re celebrating with a trek around Australia, which will see them hitting spots like Launceston, Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin, Fremantle, and more.

Love Is A Dog is the culmination of a year’s worth of work. The result is an intricate concept album packed with soaring strings, deftly plucked and strummed guitar hooks, and of course, Emily Lubitz’s unforgettable vocals.

The album was produced by the band with help from Harry James Angus, best known for his work the likes of The Cat Empire and Jackson Jackson, and was mixed by Adam Selzer, who’s worked on albums by M Ward, She & Him, and Jolie Holland.

Meanwhile, the band’s tour will kick off this April with a performance at the Fairbridge Folk Festival and will see the trio embarking on a long trek right around Australia, visiting areas where bands rarely go, like Tasmania and the Northern Territory.

“We are enjoying playing as a trio at the moment,” says Lubitz. “I like singing in that space and I love to hear Alex [Burkoy] fill some of the spaces with his strings. Our shows are intimate, and when I’m feeling safe and sound, I will tell a few stories and share some thoughts… and Alex might even tell a joke!”
