Regardless of your stance on it, the Melbourne Bounce scene has been bubbling away for over 3 years now, and for a whole new generation it has turned into one of the most loved (and divisive genres) in Australia.

But this old-man-shakes-fist-at-clouds attitude just won’t scare away the thousands (yes, thousands) attending these events and clubs every week, and for many it has turned into a gateway entry into the world of electronic music.

One of the more fascinating aspects of the scene is the urge of producers to turn absolutely anything into a bootleg banger. And these bootlegs usually procure over 100,000s of plays for the bootlegger in question – and achieve the artist not just local, but global recognition.

We caught up with local Melbourne artist Press Play, who has been there since the beginning of the scene to get his pick of his current top 10 pop tracks – and bootlegs of said track. It’s the perfect soundtrack to a big long weekend. Check it out below and if you like what you’re hearing be sure to visit Press Play’s Facebook page for more info on upcoming shows.

Zara Larsson – ‘Lush Life’ (Matt Watkins Bootleg)

Zara Larson has the looks and voice of an angel, would happily marry! Matt Watkins took her original and turned it into a dance floor stomper. He really has nailed the production on this, so tight!

LDRU (feat. Paige IV) – ‘Keeping Score’ (Press Play Bootleg)

LDRU is an Australian producer who has made some major waves over the last year. He even made the Triple J 2015 Top 100 placing at number 22 with this track. I love this original so much, I just HAD to put out a club friendly edit!

The Chainsmokers – ‘Roses ft. Rozes’ (Nathan Thomson & Brynny Bootleg)

What can I say about this original? Once it’s been heard it instantly infects everyone with good vibes. But Nathan Thompson and Brynny put together, equal fire! Love the catchy vocal chops on this.

Justin Bieber – ‘Love Yourself’ (Brynny & Teddy Cream Bootleg)

Who doesn’t love a bit of Bieber? I like to think of Brynny as the Melbourne equivalent of JB (insert tongue emoticon here). Brynny and Teddy Cream turned the original into a banger, and as the 10 million combined plays on YouTube would suggest, the boys have nailed this booty!

Selena Gomez – ‘Hands To Myself’ (Courtney Mills Bootleg)

You can’t have a Bieber track without a Selena Gomez track. Local girl Courtney Mills is on bootleg duties for this one. It is really catchy, and again love the vocal chops!

Miley Cyrus – ‘Party In The USA’ (Teddy Cream Bootleg)

‘I walked off the plane at LAX’. Oh so cheesy, but it works! Teddy Cream’s bootleg took this to the next level. My boys!

Zara Larsson – ‘Never Forget You’ (Press Play Bootleg)

What can I say – I’ve been loving Zara Larsson lately! Did I mention i’d happily marry her? Awesome original tune which has now been club-ified!

Taylor Swift – ‘Love Story’ (Brynny Bootleg)

No pop theme would be complete without a Taylor Swift addition. My boy Brynny just giving the people here what they want.

Calvin Harris + Disciples – ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ (Tyron Hapi Bootleg)

Everything Calvin produces turns to gold and this original is an absolute 2015 classic. Tyron Hapi is a freakshow, so talented! You can hear it in this bootleg. Epic!

Jason Mraz – ‘I’m Yours’ (Press Play & Nathan Thomson Bootleg)

I love Mraz! This is an old favorite of mine and possibly the most relaxed original listed here. Nathan Thomson and me decided to re-visit this and make it a bit more dancefloor-friendly.
