Melbourne venue Forester’s Hall is a much-loved Collingwood spot known for its free beer tastings on Tuesdays and for its splendorous, warehouse-like design. It’s up for sale and we’d really like it if someone cool bought before it gets turned into apartments.

You seem pretty cool, why don’t you buy it? The venue’s current owners are taking expressions of interest until Friday, 29th April and we’re dead certain some of those expressions are coming from developers who’d love to see it turned into another ugly, po-mo apartment block.

In return for your investment, you’ll get a 400-cap venue right in the heart of the bustling Collingwood district. It’s coated right on the corner of Smith and Gertrude Streets, so you’re looking at plenty of foot traffic and some rather trendy surrounds.

According to real estate agent Colliers International, the venue has 4am license and plenty of trading space to do whatever you want with. In fact, there’s three distinct trading areas, including the ground floor bar with its live music stage and 40 state-of-the-art beer taps.

There’s also an upstairs bar and a function area located on the second floor. All of these were “meticulously renovated” by the venue’s current owners, who spared no expense in installing “first class finishes and high end plant and equipment additions”.

The lease is another selling point. It’s 36 years with options, so you know the rug won’t be taken from under you. Inspections are recommended so hit up the agent or just head on down the next time they’re doing a free beer tasting night.
