It’s Monday and if you’re anything like the thousands of Australians who turned out for Record Store Day on Saturday, you’re probably broke. That’s too bad, because we’re excited to report on a cool new addition to Australia’s record store scene.

As record stores around the country were celebrating their biggest day of the year with their respective parties and shindigs, Underground Records in Adelaide was simultaneously celebrating their grand opening at 9/47 The Parade in Norwood.

Best of all, Underground Records, which was founded by vinyl veteran Craig Radcliffe, is serving a very important niche, specialising in “Heavy Psychedelic Rock, Stoner Rock and Doom” along with “selected rock, metal and punk titles”.

As The Music reports, Radcliffe developed a following with several pop-up ventures at record fairs and his new Norwood location will see his vision of bringing “that feeling of community back to buying and listening to music” take shape as a brick-and-mortar store.

“It’s been a lifelong dream,” Radcliffe told The Music. “We are always looking to expand our catalogue and love discovering new music.” Underground Records’ catalog will boast “limited edition vinyl, coloured mail order exclusives, and 180 gram records”.

Radcliffe has already set up a web presence for the store, writing on the website. “It is our vision to make this one of the best buying experiences on the web and to bring greater accessibility of this format to the Australian music fan.”
