Easily one of the most prolific bands in Australia right now, Melbourne psych-rock collective King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are set to unveil their eagerly anticipated eighth album, Nonagon Infinity, on 29th April, but you can stream it in full right now.

After dropping the largely acoustic Paper Mâché Dream Balloon, the band revealed album number eight would be an ambitious tribute to the heyday of heavy metal, with influences like Slayer and Motörhead.

“It’s not really metal, but it’s inspired by stuff like that,” singer Stu Mackenzie told Rolling Stone. According to Mackenzie, the boys have been working on a “super heavy” prog-metal album that will play out as an “infinite loop”, for the better part of a year.

“I’m sure no one’s going to put it on repeat and loop the album,” said Mackenzie. “The initial plan was to make the album we’re recording now [before Paper Mâché], but we realized the songs weren’t anywhere near ready,” said drummer Eric Moore.

We’ve already received two delectable first tastes of the album in the forms of raucous, fuzzed-out first single ‘Gamma Knife’ and ‘People Vultures’, a similarly fuzzed-out but far more brooding affair than its predecessor, which dropped this month.

You can now stream Nonagon Infinity in its entirety via NPR here.
