Remember that segment on John Safran’s Music Jamboree where he strapped a video camera to a dog to prove anyone (y’know, even a dog) could get a video on Australia’s favourite late-night music video program, rage?

That was all legit. Well, we don’t know for certain if Safran got his clip played on rage, but it’s true that bands and artists are more than welcome to submit their music videos to rage for consideration.

Sometimes the show’s curators will select their videos to be played on air, other times they may feel a bit like the members of Melbourne garage outfit TTTDC, who saw their clip banned by the higher-ups at rage.

Well it looks like MTV, whom we didn’t even know played music videos anymore, are trying to steal some of rage‘s thunder by opening their doors to “everyday musicians, singed or unsigned”.

They’re inviting everyday musos to submit their clips to MTV Upload, which will begin playing them from 10pm Thursday, 5th May on MTV Music. The global broadcasting giant even specifies that no budget is too low.

So long as you video shows “talent, hard work, and dedication”, your video will get on the air. All you have to do is visit the official MTV Upload website, fill out the application form, and send them your video.
