Ever looked at somebody’s extensive pedal collection and thought to yourself, “What would they all sound like linked up together?” Well a couple of pedal enthusiasts with way too much time on their hands have gone ahead and answered that question for you.

Juan Alderete de la Peña, bassist for the likes of The Mars Volta and Racer X, runs a Pedals And Effects channel on YouTube and recently invited Tera Melos’s Nick Reinhart over to his place to find out what it sounds like when 100 pedals are linked up together.

“To answer the age-old question of what it sounds like when you turn on 100 pedals? It sounds awful, basically,” Reinhart confesses in the clip, which you can check out below. Indeed, the results of the experiment are rather cacophonous.

Also, is it just us or does it take these guys 100 pedals linked together to do what Australia’s own Rowland S Howard could do with just a guitar? Either way, it’s certainly impressive to see the results of some nine hours’ worth of tweaking and knob-twiddling.
