Recently named Australia’s best songwriter, you’d think Courtney Barnett would be running out of career milestones and accolades to claim, but she just keeps on growing that resume with a performance on US comedy staple Saturday Night Live now on the agenda.

As SNL recently revealed via their official Facebook page, Courtney Barnett and her band will be the musical guest set for the 21st May episode of the show, which Portlandia creator and SNL alum Fred Armisen is set to host.

A performance on one of America’s most popular TV shows is great in itself (though it’s not like Courtney hasn’t had plenty of those), but what’s perhaps most exciting is the fact that SNL often get their musical guests in on a skit or two.

You may recall that our own Gotye participated in a skit with Andy Samberg and Taran Killam when he appeared on an episode to perform ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ with Kimbra back in 2012. Now we may just get to see Courtney flex her own comedy muscle.

In other Courtney news, the singer and songwriter revealed at Coachella that she’s already begun penning songs that could potentially make her next album. “I’ve been writing since the last one I guess,” she revealed.
