When Daft Punk unveiled Random Access Memories to great commercial and critical success back in 2013, everyone was hopeful the French electronic duo would be following up with a world tour as they did with 2005’s Human After All.

The Alive 2006/2007 tour was a critically acclaimed blockbuster, whose success was thanks in part to the wave of stunning camera phone footage that made its way to YouTube, featuring the pair’s now iconic light-up pyramid.

But it looks as though we won’t be receiving another live tour from Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo any time soon. Despite a couple of promotional appearances here and there, there’s been no word about a follow-up to Alive 2006/2007.

So how about the next best thing? Discovery, named after Daft Punk’s groundbreaking 2001 album, are Australia’s premier Daft Punk tribute band and they’ve just announced a show at Melbourne’s Prince Bandroom, with a full tour to follow.

If you haven’t seen Discovery do their thing, it’s certainly different to the real Daft Punk, but that’s why they’re a ‘tribute’ act. You and a few hundred of your best mates get to party to the songs you know and love, courtesy of two guys who’ve invested good money in Daft Punk helmets.
