Queensland eight-piece country / rock outfit Halfway recently unleashed their new album The Golden Halfway Record, the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2014 effort Any Old Love.

Despite being a quintessentially Australian band though (with members from The Go-Betweens, The Painted Ladies, etc) the band made a conscious decision with their new album, to record outside of Australia, in order to develop their sound, find influence in new surrounds and create a record beyond the comforts of the country that they already know so well.

They wanted to avoid becoming complacent, so in September 2015 the band set their sights on the songwriting capital of the world – Nashville, Tennessee. While they were there the guys kept a tidy little studio diary (with captions written by the band’s bass player Ben Johnson) which we have the pleasure of sharing with you today. For more info on the guys and their new LP pop by the Halfway Facebook page.
