We can’t help but notice whenever our Aussie musos get props from celebrities or straight up music legends, particularly if the musician in questions happens to be a hardworking, up-and-coming, independent musician (to wit: our favourite kind).

We basically high-fived each other around the Tone Deaf office when we heard Godfather of Punk Iggy Pop play King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard on his BBC radio show not once but twice, and shared some very lovely words about the Melbourne outfit.

Henry Rollins can’t seem to stop gushing about Australian bands, giving props to the likes of High Tension, Summer Flake, Tired Lion, and more. When he’s in the country, he always makes sure to hit up his favourite record stores and get updated.

That’s why we were so excited when we saw homegrown singer-songwriter Dustin Tebbutt sharing a screenshot of an Apple Music playlist recently put together by comedian, actor, and co-creator of The Office Ricky Gervais in which he was featured.

Gervais curated a “Multi-Purpose Playlist” for the streaming service, featuring a few of the tracks he included in his Desert Island Discs, as well as more contemporary cuts from the likes of Death Cab For Cutie, Daughter, Sun Kil Moon, and our own Dustin.

“This playlist is great for a long plane journey accompanied by free champagne. It really chills you out very quickly. It’s also great for writing scripts to, while drinking champagne you’ve paid for. And it’s also great for an afternoon nap.”

“I’m always sober in the afternoon but it has a Pavlovian effect. Haha,” Gervais wrote in the playlist’s description. Check it out via Apple Music here and check out Dustin’s music via his official Facebook page here.
