Earlier this month, Tired Lion unveiled their thunderous new single, ‘Not My Friends’, receiving acclaim from fans and critics alike for its perfect alchemic mix of crunchy riffs, bleeding vocals, and in-your-face lyrics.

The band have now unveiled a music video for the tune, which is slightly more tongue-in-cheek and comedic than the song, which frontwoman Sophie Hopes revealed deals with a time in her life in which she clung to “toxic people”.

“I have never been inclined to go to extreme lengths to ‘fit in’ but at this time in my life I was so desperate to latch on to anything that made me feel like it was worth existing,” Hopes said of the song in a statement.

“I eventually cut my losses, dropped the toxic people who appeared to be so pleasant to my face and moved on into a direction I chose for myself. I’m a lot happier being the outsider these days and I guess this was the song that justified the change.”

Serious subject matter, but the video the Perth four-piece have put together is far from serious, recreating (and taking the piss out of) iconic scenes and intros to classic TV shows like Friends, That ’70s Show, The Office, and even Rage.
