We get a lot of emails here at Tone Deaf and we’d like to say the majority of them are from musicians and those connected to them, reaching out to see if we can’t give their music a listen and maybe write about it on the site.

There’s obviously not enough time to write about everybody, but we do our best to discern what’s worth shining a light on. It can be a tough job at times and we’d be lying if we said we didn’t notice certain patterns in the emails we get.

There’s also certain turns of phrase and descriptions that more or less serve to immediately turn us off to whatever artist we’re being told about. Apparently, the anonymous creator of Why I Deleted Your Band’s Promo Email is in the same boat.

The blog is a collection of excerpts from various emails the creator has apparently received from musicians, their managers, publicists, promoters, and so on, highlighting the specific lines that made the blogger immediately delete the email.
