South Africa’s favourite rap-rave duo, Die Antwoord, have returned, two full years after they released their third album, Donker Mag, to drop their first mixtape titled SUCK ON THIS!.
According to a message to fans penned by Ninja, one half of the pair which also includes Yolandi Visser, Die Antwoord are busy finishing up an album entitled WE HAVE CANDY, which has been two years in the making.
“So anyway, about two months ago we found out that rappers in the USA usually drop a free mixtape for their fans before they drop their album. So we thought, ‘Hey we wanna do that!'” Ninja writes.
“The Black Goat showed us how you make a mixtape which was so fuckin fun! And we decided to call our 1st mixtape SUCK ON THIS! THE BLACK GOAT said that there are no rules to making a mixtape and that you can do whatever you want, which is our favourite style.”
According to Ninja, Die Antwoord have never allowed anyone to remix their songs, but made an exception after being informed that mixtapes often include remixes, tapping The Black Goat and God to remix some of their old material.
