Spotify are celebrating their fourth birthday in Australia this week and they’re marking the occasion by looking back at four years’ worth of streaming stats, including who the most streamed Aussie artist of all time is.
Our golden girl Sia topped the list of most streamed Aussie artists, followed closely by hip-hop trio Hilltop Hoods (Adelaide represent!), with the top three rounded out by Flume, whose self-titled debut is the most streamed Aussie album.
The list of Australia’s top 10 most streamed artists overall did not, however, feature any homegrown talent, being topped by Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, and One Direction, with Major Lazer’s ‘Lean On’ the most streamed track.
Meanwhile, our favourite ‘legacy’ artist (those who rose to prominence in the 60s, 70s or 80s) is Fleetwood Mac by a big margin, followed by David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Bob Marley & The Wailers, and our very own INXS.
