One of our favourite Melbourne garage pop crews Shiny Coin have today dropped their latest single ‘So Great’ and yep it’s simply just so great.

Clocking in at a tidy two minutes and 15 seconds, ‘So Great’ is the trio untangling the emotional mess of friendships in song. From the thrill of when friendships blossom into love, the fear of having them break your heart – and how the platonic so often overlaps with the romantic.

Featuring super sweet golden tones and hooky ‘whoa-ohs’ of sunny Californian fuzz-pop, ‘So Great’ was originally set to be a cut from a new EP, but the recording session was cancelled thanks to old mate Mother Nature.

“We were recording an EP and then the studio flooded! I went away the next day,” vocalist Sharni Coyne explains.

Luckily ‘So Great’ was salvaged which means we have the absolut pleasure of premiering it today.

Check out the single below and if you like what you’re hearing be sure to catch the crew in action when the celebrate the release at The Tote on June 11 alongside a host of other local legends including Pink Tiles, Palm Springs, Swim Team, Chelsea Bleach and more.”
