When Guy Sebastian made his triple j debut last week, entering the national youth broadcaster’s studios to perform an acclaimed Like A Version with producer Paces, there was only one name on everybody’s lips: Shannon Noll.

Yes, despite rave reviews across the board for Guy’s stellar vocal chops, we still haven’t forgiven him for robbing Nollsy of his rightful place as our Australian Idol all those years ago. It seems he’s always the overlooked one.

So what does Nollsy think of Guy’s Like A Version appearance? Well, he didn’t actually get to hear it. Speaking to triple j’s Veronica and Lewis, the Aussie legend admitted he was too busy driving to his next gig, presumably in a big, black, shiny car.

After touching on his experience playing Perth’s Ship-Wrecked! Music Festival (he didn’t let “a bit of rain” spoil his good time), the hosts finally asked Nollsy what he would cover if he was invited to do Like A Version.

Nollsy offered what is perhaps the most Nollsy answer possible: “We’ve been doing a cover of ‘Waltzing Matilda’, which I quite enjoy, a bit of a punk version of ‘Waltzing Matilda’, it goes over pretty good.”

A punk rock cover of ‘Waltzing Matilda’ on Like A Version? You heard the man, Richard Kingsmill, get on that one quick. Check out Nollsy’s full chat with Veronica and Lewis below or via the triple j website.
