Guy Sebastian certainly gave them a tough act to follow with his stellar triple j debut last week, but The Cat Empire took Like A Version as yet another opportunity to remind everybody why they’re one of Australia’s tightest and most talented live bands.

Taking on Swedish songstress Lykke Li’s rumbling 2010 single ‘Get Some’, the Melbourne ska-jazz collective laid the funk and horns on heavy and turned the song into the perfect way to get your Friday off to the right start (check it out above).

The band unveiled their seventh studio album, Rising with the Sun, back in March, scoring their second Number One ARIA chart debut. The band are currently on the road celebrating the success of the album with an extensive tour of the East Coast.

As we’ve previously noted, this year’s Like A Version series has gotten off to an interesting start – we’ve seen a heart-wrenching David Bowie cover, an ambitious mash-up from this year’s Hottest 100 winners, a deeply divisive cover of a huge hit from 2015, and a cover that showed us what Like A Version is meant to be.
