triple j’s Play School remix competition has received widespread attention, and confusingly even a little bit of controversy, but after trawling through some 600 remixes, the judging panel has selected their five finalists.

If your memory’s a bit foggy, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the beloved children’s television staple (yes, can you believe it? 50 years!), triple j tasked their Unearthed citizens with remixing the iconic theme tune.

The stems to ‘There’s A Bear In There’ were available to download and producers, songwriters, bands, emcees, and everything in between were free to do whatever they pleased with them, the more creative the better.

triple j’s judges have now narrowed the list down to just five, each of which “bring something inventive and distinctive to the table”. You can check a few out below, but we must say we have a soft spot for Froyo’s New Wave-esque take on the song.

Check out all of the finalists via triple j Unearthed here.
