As you’ve no doubt heard, The Avalanches are officially back. They’ve unveiled their first new music in 16 years in the form of ‘Frankie Sinatra’, their collaboration with rapper Danny Brown and the first single from their forthcoming new album.

Yes, there is a new album in it’ll be here 8th July. 16 long years after the band released their timeless debut, Since I Left You, the band, which is now comprised of Robbie Chater, Tony Di Blasi, and James Dela Cruz will release Wildflower.

“What kept us going during the making this record was a belief in the day-to-day experience of music as a life force – as life energy,” said Chater. “Hearing a certain song on a certain morning can change your day.”

“It can make the world look different, changing the way you perceive light refracting through the atmosphere for the rest of the afternoon. Literally changing the colour, feeling and tone of your world.”

We already know the album features collaborations with Danny Brown and MF Doom, with the former featured in the fake documentary trailer the band dropped last month, which also featured Father John Misty, Ariel Pink, and Jennifer Herrema of Royal Trux.

The band have unveiled a clip for ‘Frankie Sinatra’. Directed by Fleur & Manu (Drake, A$AP Rocky, M83, Movement, Canyons, Skrillex), the video was shot on location in the bayou of New Orleans, following the bizarre antics of a bunch of local carny folk.

You can hear Chater and Di Blasi’s interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe right here and you can pre-order the album via the official Avalanches website.
