Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds are not known for being conventional and the band’s 16th studio album, Skeleton Tree, is anything but. It will be released globally on 9th September with an accompanying film to be screened for one night only.

The follow-up to 2013’s Push the Sky Away is available for pre-order now via the official Nick Cave website, where you can also purchase tickets for One More Time With Feeling, the accompanying film directed by Andrew Dominik.

Dominik, best known for directing films like Chopper, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, and Killing Them Softly, has crafted something “much more significant” than just a performance film.

Performance footage is intertwined with interviews and special footage shot by Dominik, accompanied by Cave’s narration and “improvised rumination”, exploring the tragic backdrop in which this new album was written and recorded.

Cave’s 15-year-old son Arthur died last year after falling from a cliff top in Brighton, near his family’s home. Skeleton Tree is said to be a vivid examination of the grief the Australian music icon experienced in the wake of the tragic loss.

One More Time With Feeling will be the first opportunity fans have to hear the new album. It will be screened in more than 650 cinemas across the world on 8th September, with the album set to drop the next day.
