A trio of Melbourne creatives have launched a new website that hopes to be the Airbnb for creative spaces. Cocoons allows the owners of studios, recording spaces, rehearsal rooms, workshops, and more to sublet their spaces to fellow creatives.

Currently available in Melbourne and Sydney, Cocoons is the brainchild of Melbourne-bred, Berlin-based designer and musician Adam Ferns, freelance writer Phon Vongdara, and creative technologist and photographer Andy Rovenko.

The service works just like Airbnb, but with an obvious twist. If you have a warehouse or backyard studio you’re not using, you can list it on Cocoons and artists and musicians can then sublet it for a flat fee.

“Cocoons brings the sharing economy to people who love sharing the most: the creative community,” said Ferns. There’s already several properties listed on the site, including numerous recording studios and even a metalworking workshop.

Cocoons accepts all types of creative spaces for, including “warehouses, recording studios, rehearsal spaces, photography and art studios—even amatuer garage studios“.

Each listing comes with a detailed description, photos, user ratings, and an equipment list. You can check Cocoons out via the official website or if you still have questions, check out the FAQ here.
