Sydney indie rockers Hedge Fund are today unveiling the brand new video for their incredibly hooky single ‘What You’re Hiding’. Taking its cue sonically from previous single ‘Summer’s Getting Shorter’, ‘What You’re Hiding’ sees the band creep down a darker path, crafting a brooding and hypnotic journey of synths and drums.

Fronted by London raised, but Sydney based vocalist William Colvin, the band’s songwriting is thoroughly inspired by the amalgamation of the personalities of both cities. While the five members of Hedge Fund firmly identify as a ‘Bondi Band’, an unmistakably British sound seeps in through the music.

Directed by the band’s William Colvin and Constantine Costi, the clip presents itself as a pseudo sportswear advertisement with a distorted the reality as Colvin explains “The main goal of pretty much all of my work as a film-maker is to make work that is offensive or disturbing in ways that aren’t immediately obvious, and the video for What You’re Hiding is, I think, my favourite execution of that idea to date.

The basic idea that Constantine (the clip’s co-director) and I had for this video was to make a film that at first glance looks like something half between a music video and a clothes commercial, and then to twist it into something slightly more deranged.” It’s a simple but stunning effort from the crew. Check out the video for ‘What You’re Hiding’ below and if you like what you’re hearing be sure to visit the band’s Facebook page for more info.
