Radiohead got Aussie fans very excited earlier this week after they announced they would be bringing their mysterious Live From A Moon Shaped Pool streaming events to record stores Down Under.

Among the Aussie record stores involved in the project are Sydney’s Mojo Record Bar, Thornbury Records in Melbourne, and Jet Black Cat Music in Brisbane, just to name a few.

Details at first were rather scant, with the website promising an “exclusive day long audio stream from the band” as well as “competitions, instructional artworks” and more. Yeah, we know: what’s an instructional artwork?

The whole thing is set to kick off Friday, 17th June and thanks to FACT we now have a better idea of what the Radiohead fans, who’ll no doubt be lining up around the block on Friday morning, can expect.

A London record store has informed FACT that the event will include an audio broadcast arranged by the band as well as a “very special” two-hour live set featuring songs from A Moon Shaped Pool and fan favourites.

There will also be prizes handed out to fans as part of a raffle which fans can only sign up for at each event. The first prize is a selection of figurines used in Chris Hopewell’s ‘Burn The Witch’ music video.

Two silver medalists will receive original screenprints from Stanley Donwood, who did the artwork for the album, and three bronze winners will receive original 35mm celluloid prints of Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Daydreaming’ music video in a film canister.

The whole thing is to promote the band’s latest album, A Moon Shaped Pool, which has already been hailed as one of the band’s strongest and most cathartic releases to date.
