When we think of our dream Aussie rock collaborations, getting Sticky Fingers and The Delta Riggs into the same studio is definitely around the top of our list.

Well, it finally happened, Sticky Fingers and The Delta Riggs did collaborate on a tune, although the two groups couldn’t actually find the time to make it into the studio together.

Speaking recently to Music Feeds, singer Elliott Hammond was asked about any potential collaborations on the band’s forthcoming third studio album.

“I can give you a hint,” he said. “There is a collaboration on the record with a Sydney band that we’re very, very chummy with. It features the singer and the bass player from said band. Is that too cryptic?

“In short, you might hear a collaboration with Sticky Fingers on that record,” he added. According to Hammond, bringing the collab to fruition was something of a logistical nightmare.

“It was just one night we were hanging out and said, ‘You guys should get in on this track’,” he recounted. “By the time we got around to it they were doing their album in Thailand and they had a studio there, and we were doing ours at The Grove.”

“So we were sending session files back and forth to each other. So we weren’t in the studio for some of it and then the second half I met up with Dylan [Frost] at the Sticky studio and we finished it off. So it was a two-part process.”

The Delta Riggs unveiled the first single from their eagerly anticipated third LP, ‘Surgery of Love’, earlier this month, accompanying the news with a string of fresh tour dates (see below).
