If you’ve ever been listening to your favourite band or bedroom producer on SoundCloud and thought, ‘Gee, I really wish there were more pops and crackles in there’, Vinylize.it is the answer to your prayers.

As FACT Mag reports, the new startup works with fans and artists to press your favourite SoundCloud tracks to vinyl records. You send the requests to Vinylize.it and then it’s up to them to get the vinyl pressed.

QRATES, the crowdfunded vinyl market place, handles the actual pressing of the records, whilst Vinylize.it liaises with the artist on your behalf, aggregating demand, and ensuring the money goes to the right places.

For example, let’s say I want a vinyl of my favourite bedroom producer’s latest EP. I’d contact Vinylize.it and they would see how many other users want the same thing and then negotiate with the producer and their label to get the vinyl made.

“After we aggregate demand, we notify the artist/label and provide them a turnkey solution which converts the demand to a crowdfunding/pre-order project on QRATES,” they recently told The Next Web.

If that all sounds a little convoluted, that’s because it is, even though technically the startup is meant to be simplifying things. According to the founders, bringing the artists on board is a top priority.

’cause y’know, otherwise they’d basically be pressing copyrighted music onto vinyl for consumers and keeping the profit, which we would be like us pressing our own copies of Taylor Swift’s 1989 and selling them.

However, the company hasn’t quite explained just how these SoundCloud tracks are going to sound once they’re pressed to vinyl. After all, it’s not like they’ll be mixed or mastered for the format. But maybe they’ll sort that out once the business launches.
