The organisers of Falls Music & Arts Festival have announced they will be bringing the beloved Aussie event to Western Australia in 2017. Falls Downtown, as it’s been dubbed, will take place over 7th and 8th January.

This isn’t simply a case of organisers bringing your traditional Falls to WA. Falls Downtown is a unique event that will take place on the streets and in the forgotten buildings of Fremantle, with local and international artists, food, art, and more.

The Main Stage will be situated in the town square, whilst the old abandoned Myer building will host “bunkered basement danceterias, interactive art installations, unexpected performance areas, makers markets” as well as rooftop glamping.

Town Hall Atrium will become a ballroom with a lively dance floor and punters will flood St John’s Anglican Church for a range of events and performances. More details are set to be announced soon so keep an eye out.

What’s not yet clear is what kind of impact Falls Downtown will have on WA’s Southbound festival, which takes place around the same time as Falls and has traditionally shared many of the same acts as the latter.
