We recently ‘celebrated’ 10 years since Tool last released an album. The title of their last release, the acclaimed 10,000 Days, turned out to be something of a prediction for when we could roughly expect a follow-up.

But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. According to a new report from TeamRock, a new Tool album is indeed in progress and some lucky folks have even heard the new tunes, including legendary Melvins frontman Buzz Osbourne.

Speaking to TeamRock, Osbourne revealed that the shortest song on the new Tool record clocks in at 12 minutes. Osbourne quipped that the music is obviously not radio friendly and confirmed that the recording process has not yet begun.

As Consequence of Sound notes, the last we heard from the band, writing sessions had been coming along well, with guitarist Adam Jones calling them “wonderful” and saying, “Things are really flowing and going really well, and I’m just blown away at the stuff that’s coming together.”

“I’m excited and can’t wait for it to be done,” he added. Meanwhile, frontman Maynard James Keenan has been playing the waiting game just like Tool fans and will join the band in the studio once the music is actually finished.
