One of our most eagerly anticipated new local records of the year is the next joint from Newtown crew Sticky Fingers and as luck would have it, the band’s follow-up to 2014’s Land of Pleasure finally has a release date.

Speaking to triple j‘s Veronica and Lewis, guitarist Seamus Coyle revealed that the new album, which does not yet have a title, is set to drop in “late September”, as well as recounting how the group came to record the LP in Thailand.

“It came up and it was like, ‘Ha ha ha, that would be pretty funny… Thailand,'” Coyle said, recounting how the idea originally began as a joke. According to bassist Paddy Cornwall, “It was a nice excuse for a holiday.”

According to the boys, they weren’t the only rockers in town. “Pete Doherty had the other studio booked,” the band revealed, but Pete unfortunately suffered “three scooter crashes” and spent most of the time in hospital.

Meanwhile, The Delta Riggs frontman Elliott Hammond recently revealed that his band had collaborated with Sticky Fingers on their new record and it seems the Stickys have some of their own collaborations set for their record.

“[Remi]’s actually jumped on the record and done a collab on a song called ‘Something Strange’, and we just finished doing that about 5 days ago and it sounds cool,” Cornwall revealed. Both Remi and StiFi will appear at Splendour In The Grass this month.
