We’re happy to bring you the new single from Sydney quartet The Tambourine Girls, named… ‘The Tambourine Girl’. It’s a tribute to the age-old idea of a ‘muse’ – specifically the glamour of the mid-20th century.

Listening to this one, it comes as no surprise that the band features a couple of members of local indie legends Deep Sea Arcade. Recorded with Tim Whitten (Powderfinger, The Go-Betweens, Hoodoo Gurus and Augie March), the track is a psych-drenched blend of fuzzy Britpop and folk, guitars shrieking and folding into each other atop a stomping bassline.

They’ve released a couple of EPs over the last couple of years, and this is the second single so far from their upcoming debut album. You’ll be able to see these guys in action very soon during a two-date residency at Sydney’s Oxford Circus on the Sundays of August 7 and 21, tickets on sale Friday.
